Fear not? Well, maybe you should!

Better watch out the next time you go to see your favorite senator or congressman. You might just end up as collateral damage smeared across the front lobby. In all seriousness, the recent acts and treats of violence shown towards some of our government's leaders since the healthcare bill passed the House on March 21 should have you little worried. Not terror alert red, dig a bomb shelter for WWIII worried, but disturbed by the level of anger and fear that exist out there among the citizenry of our country. Don't get me wrong, I understand that this bill is huge and will cause ramped changes in the way the financial burden of healthcare is handled in America. And yes, I can also understand some of the fear that circles around the reformation of healthcare, especially now in these hard economic times. But the way in which some conservative pundits like Glenn Beck are stroking the fears of their listeners is scary. For instance, I recently heard Glenn offhandedly mention to his viewing audience that their patriot forefathers picked up guns during America's revolution and took back which was rightfully theres. What? How a responsible human being can say something like that, knowing the type of spiraling xenophobia that is already present out there is beyond me. I mean this is the man who, on his highly rated Fox News Network show, stated that the Obama administration's push for volunteerism is really the president's attempt to create a "civilian national-security force that is just as strong, just as powerful as the military". Why people take him seriously is beyond me, but people are taking him very seriously . For instance, Virginia Congressman Eric Cantor had his campaign office shot at, Missouri Congressman Russ Carnahan [D] had a coffin placed on his front yard by tea party loyalist, and New York congresswoman Louise Slaughter[D] had a brick thrown through her district's office window. While no one was hurt in any of these senerios, the fear that has gripped the people responsible for these attacks hasn't even reached it's apex.
